Our Story

Our Story: Melissa & Logan

In June 2009, we packed up our lives in Motueka and moved to Southland with our three kids—chasing a dream of working the land and raising a family on a dairy farm.

We started out in farm assistant and herd manager roles, learning the ropes and embracing the long days and muddy boots. After three years, we stepped into contract milking—managing 650 to 750 cows over five years. It was hard work, but it laid the foundation for the next big step: securing a patch of land to call our own and building something truly ours.

As dairy farmers, we’ve always appreciated the simple pleasure of fresh milk, straight from the source. It’s a daily reminder of how food should be—real, nourishing, and unprocessed. That’s what inspired us to start Farm Fresh South. We want to give others the same opportunity to enjoy milk the way nature intended.

Today’s consumers are asking the right questions: Where does my food come from? What’s in it—or what’s been taken out? Who’s making it, and are they doing it with care for the land, animals, and people? The truth is, most supermarket milk has been heavily processed by the time it reaches the shelf.

We’re here to do things differently.
From our family to yours—this is real dairy, done right.
