Silver beet, Rainbow Beet or Swiss Chard are all classed as silver beet. Silver Beet is similar to spinach but stronger in flavour. Although young leaves can be used in a salad it is usually eaten cooked. Finely chopped or pureed it makes a good base for many other dishes. Silver Beet cooks quickly and if using the stems as well as the leaves it is a good idea to separate and put the stems in a few minutes before the leaves as they take a little longer to cook.

Silver Beet is a good source of vitamins C, A , E, B6 and K, Iron, Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Copper, Manganese, Zinc and Phosphorus. Also high in Thiamin and folate yet is low in calories and saturated fat and cholesterol.

We are a small family run Market Garden providing a variety of seasonal vegetables. We are Spray Free and try to grow as naturally as we are able. Our goal is to provide fresh tasty vegetables at a reasonable price.

We pick, rinse and pack our veggies as close as possible to delivery times in order to retain the freshness to your door.
